Seoul Searching State

Do you recall a status I posted on Facebook some time ago explaining how our brain stores bits of information into billions of brains cells when we are young? Well, those brain cells begin to die off as we get older from a number of serious and stupid reasons, such as drinking alcohol, or eating too much junk food. This means our brain has to pack more information into fewer numbers of brain cells.

It’s like storing the same amount of data on several 16GB memory cards, as opposed to dozens of 2GB memory cards. This occurrence makes us smarter, or more insightful if you will, even though we don’t have as many brain cells as we used to have. Here’s my point. My thesis statement. This analogy is the best I could come up with to explain what I’ve been feeling since arriving in Korea, because all I do all day is THINK.

Special Weekend in Seoul!

Pursuing a Commitment in the Republic of Korea

I am writing to express my interest in participating in the 2012 TaLK Scholarship Program. As a recent graduate from the College of Communication at The University of Texas in Austin, I would like to offer my credentials and experience to demonstrate how my qualifications strongly match what the program looks for in a TaLK Scholar.

I am familiar with adjusting to life in Korea because I have visited Seoul to learn about the Korean culture. I received the South Korea Scholarship from the Korea Foundation this year to spend a week in Seoul experiencing the culture of Korea. I learned how to use public transportation and participated in excursions to Gyeongbok Palace, the Demilitarized Zone and Yonsei University, where I held informative group discussions with Yonsei students about the state of U.S. and Korea relations.
